GPS power grid time synchronization system, also known as time unified synchronous system.It mainly provides standard time information, time coding (such as IRIG code, DCF77 code) signal and synchronous pulse signal to user equipment, and enables users to run on a uniform time scale.That is to realize the time synchronization of computer monitoring system, protection device, fault recorder, event sequence recording device, safety automatic device, telecontrol RTU and energy management system, dispatching automation system, distribution automation system, power load management system, electric energy recording system, and power grid frequency checking system in the power grid dispatching center, power plant station and substation.

Two point one Equipment (system) configuration
The system is composed of GPS main clock and expansion device.The schematic diagram of system (connection) is shown in Figure 1.
The system receives radio signals from GPS space satellites, obtains GPS time information as reference (Reference) time, synchronously generates time coded signals (such as IRIG-B time code), synchronous pulse signals (such as 1PPS, 1PPM, 1PPH) and serial interface (such as RS232) time messages.

2.2.1 GPS Master clock
The relay room is made up of two sets of GPS main clock. SYN4503 standard synchronous clock perhaps SYN4301 GPS encodes synchronous clock. As shown in Figure two.
The GPS main clock receives the radio signals transmitted by the GPS space satellites. It obtains the GPS time information as reference (Reference) time, synchronously generates time coded signals (such as IRIG-B time code), synchronous pulse signals (such as 1PPS, 1PPM, 1PPH), and the serial messages (such as RS232).

2.3.1 Expansion device
The GPS clock between electronic devices is (clock) expansion device (two sides screen).That is, the cost expansion device of two sets of expansion unit is selected. SYN1402 IRIG B code synchronous clock extension device 。
The clock expansion device also receives the IRIG-B time code signals transmitted by two GPS master clock, and takes the input IRIG-B time code as reference (Reference) time, synchronously generates time encoding signals (such as IRIG-B time code), synchronous pulse signals (such as 1PPS, 1PPM, 1PPH) and serial packets (such as RS232).
During the operation, the expansion device inputs IRIG-B time code signals from two GPS master clock simultaneously. We define the IRIG-B signal from the GPS main clock one as input one, the IRIG-B signal from the GPS main clock two as input two, and the default input as input one. When the IRIG-B time signal of input one is abnormal, the expansion device will automatically convert to the input two to ensure the continuous and normal operation of the expansion device.At the same time, state indication is given after conversion.
When the two IRIG-B signals of the expansion device are abnormal at the same time, the expansion device will keep the time in the internal crystal oscillator, so that the system can run continuously and normally.And when the external input signal returns to normal (the input IRIG-B time code signal), the expansion device will be automatically converted to the input IRIG-B time code signal.
