A uniform and accurate time source is an important basis for analyzing the actions of various devices in power grid accidents. Therefore, the power system clock plays a very important role in Smart Substation, which provides uniform time for all the equipment in the power plant.

The power time synchronization system adopts the time signal of GPS/ Beidou dual satellite navigation and positioning system as the standard time source to calibrate the clock signal source, providing accurate clock signals to the clock in the power station and the servers and workstations in the local area network. The power clock synchronization system is commonly used in the following ways.

The basic system requires only 1 power clock timing devices in the whole system. For example, the SYN4505 GPS clock also receives GPS, Beidou and GLONASS satellite time information, and also has the function of receiving the external ground time reference signal, that is, the synchronous signals issued by the upper level time synchronization system, such as NTP, PTP and B codes. Then, the signal transmission medium is used to give time to the equipment, system or other clocks that need time. The basic formula is applicable to a certain part of the system in a small power plant or power plant.

The master slave type power clock synchronization system is composed of 1 Main clocks and multiple clock clocks. SYN4505 can be used as the master clock and SYN4505A as the clock. The main clock receives the satellite signal and the time information at the upper level, and multiple outputs are transmitted directly from the clock or other existing clocks on the scene to their time information. Clock is given to clients from different networks from time to time.

If the power plant is more complex and the equipment level is relatively large, it is recommended to use master slave mode. The equipment in the middle layer will not only transmit the time information to the lower layer as the main clock, but also receive the time signal from the clock to receive the upper main clock. This system is characterized by the fact that each user device has only a connection with the time from which it is connected. Once a device runs malfunction, it will not cause all user equipment to lose time. And the system structure is easy to maintain.



The extended clock is widely used in smart substations, and it mainly solves the problem of insufficient output of main clock or remote transmission distance. For example, the main clock is placed in the control room, the relay room needs multi-channel B code signals. If the main clock is used to directly output multi-channel B code signals to the relay room, the wiring will be troublesome, and the cost will be greatly improved if the distance is too long. A B code expansion device can be used to solve the above problems. The extension of the clock is usually characterized by a large number of output paths, no need to erect the GPS Beidou antenna, it only needs to receive the external B code signal.
