In the customer's project needs, many times because of the volume, power consumption and other application environment requirements, the need to provide GPS timing module instead of chassis type equipment. This article focuses on the type and characteristics of GPS time service module.

The commonly used high-precision GPS timing modules include PTP master slave module, IRIG-B code module, GNSS timing module, NTP server core module, NTP receiver module, GPS receiver serial port and second pulse combining time module, frequency standard module and so on.

PTP needs master-slave matching to use, without redeploying the network. Using the original LAN, the PTP master clock can provide time synchronization and time information. The time stamp information sent by the master clock is received from the module, and the time delay and time error between the master and slave lines can be calculated according to the information transmission system, and the local time is adjusted by the time difference, so as to realize the frequency synchronization and the time synchronization of the master slave device.

As the IEEE1588 master clock module, SYN2407E can configure corresponding parameters through serial port, network port or UDP, and provide serial port and 1PPS as time reference signals, providing P2P and E2E mode, supporting PTPv2, IEEE STD 1588V2-2008 network time protocol, and supporting HTTP/UDP.

SYN2407F PTP can clock PTP from the clock module with PTP master clock and ordinary switch. In the system, the module receives the time information sent by the master clock port and adjusts the local time according to the algorithm, so that the time from the device is kept consistent with the main device time.

IRIG B code is a time standard developed by the US range. At present, it has been widely used in various time service occasions, especially in power and military projects. The B code has two kinds of signal formats B (DC), namely, DC and B (AC), that is, communication. The two formats carry the time signal, the time message and the carrier wave. The B code contains both the information of the time, the time, the time and the minutes, and the information reflected by the pulse. The timing accuracy of the AC B code and the DC B code is respectively microsecond and nanosecond.

The B code module is divided into receiving module and generating module. The corresponding models include SYN1511 type, SYN1510 type IRIG-B code receiving board, SYN1501 type and SYN1502 type B code generation board.

The pulse signal can be used as the time signal of the time service equipment, and is only used for time calibration.Because it does not contain information of time and time, the timing accuracy is nanosecond, usually in the use of serial ports to complete GPS time service. The recommended model is SYN2306C, which receives satellite signals and outputs serial and second pulses. The output format of the serial port is RMC sentence by default.

The SYN100mhz GPS phase-locked board outputs 1 channels of 100MHz. The frequency source can select 0-200mhz any frequency point output, the power supply is 12VDC, the size is 139mm*121mm*30mm. The long-term stability and accuracy of frequency signals are relatively high, so they are usually used to replace cesium clock.
