But starting next year, it may not be the case. Yang Changfeng, chief designer of Beidou navigation system, recently announced that next year, China will build the "Beidou global system", which will cover the whole world and provide services to the whole world. At that time, China's navigation positioning and timing system will take the Beidou system as the core.

This means that all the navigation related products produced in the country, and even the navigation equipment that may be used, is the Beidou instead of GPS, and GPS can only be auxiliary.

This is probably the opposite of most navigation nowadays, because most of the navigation is GPS based and Beidou is secondary.

You know, we have been waiting for 25 years at this moment. When we started planning the Beidou blueprint in 1994, we envisaged the replacement of GPS in the whole country and even globally. This idea is the first dream of the Beidou to China's navigation satellite, and let them insist on it for 25 years.

In order to realize this dream, Beidou has also gone through three steps in the past 25 years, first covering China in 2000 and covering Asia by 2012. Too, it will cover the whole world by 2020.

In the past 25 years, 48 satellites have been sent into space accurately, forming the largest number of navigation satellites in the world.

Of course, this may be a big bad news for the US GPS. According to the data, with the coming of 5G, more than half of the world's future connections will come from China.

And these smart devices through 5G networking, and then through satellite positioning will be the most common way of combination, and once the Beidou is the main, then the big market, GPS is equivalent to a thorough marginalization, which means that or lost the world's largest market.
